Welcome!
I am Janelle Capwell Giles, and I am a disabled writing studies scholar, former writing center tutor, former disability services professional, and current writing instructor. I earned my Ph.D. in English Rhetoric, Composition, and the Teaching of English at the University of Arizona. I also hold a M.A. in English from CSULB, a B.A. in English Literature and Language from Cal Poly Pomona, and an A.A. in Humanities from Pasadena City College.

My research focuses on accessible pedagogy, accommodations for student-workers, disability justice through an intersectional lens, audism, Hard of Hearing identity formation, CART Captioning, and disability-focused archival rhetorics. The goal of my work is to make meaning, to learn, and to build opportunities out of disabled and (other) marginalized experiences in higher education to increase access and understanding for students, staff, and faculty alike.
